Anderson County Flywheelers Event Set for Oct. 2–3 at Lake Garnett

GARNETT, Kan. — Antique farm equipment, demonstrations and activities for all ages will highlight the Anderson County Flywheelers event Oct. 2–3 on the east side of Lake Garnett. Festivities run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with free admission.

Visitors can explore tractor displays, gas engine exhibits, a swap meet, crafts and food vendors. Tractor parades around Lake Garnett begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with the parade route closed to through traffic for safety.

Friday features an Education Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for elementary, high school and homeschooled students, along with teachers and parents. Crest FFA members will lead groups of children to activity stations beginning at 10 a.m., offering opportunities to learn about farm safety, rope making, blacksmithing, fence building, corn shelling and other traditional skills.

Students attending Friday will receive a complimentary lunch courtesy of Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, Inc., and free ice cream provided by Modlin Fencing. A mobile dairy classroom will be available both days, along with tipi and trapping exhibits and an Anderson County Historical Society demonstration of historic laundry methods.

Saturday’s schedule includes a children’s pedal tractor pull at 9 a.m., an antique and classic tractor pull at 1 p.m., and a four-wheel wagon backup contest at 2:30 p.m. The wagon contest offers cash prizes for first- and second-place winners.
