EL DORADO – The Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team saw its 2026 season end on Wednesday night with a Region 6 semifinal loss to the No. 7 Butler Grizzlies at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.

The Grizzlies scored a goal just 2:43 into the contest Wednesday and made that stand up for a 1-0 win over the Blue Dragons in the 14th all-time postseason matchup with Hutchinson and Butler.

The Blue Dragons end their season with a 10-7-3 overall record, continuing a streak of never having a losing season in program history over 22 seasons.

In really the only time the Grizzlies had a lot of open field to work with, they countered off a Hutchinson attack and from about 30 yards away Kimi Shimane laced a perfect shot from the right side of the goal to the upper left corner, over the head of Blue Dragon goalkeeper Hanna Helshani for a goal just 2:43 into the contest.

From that point, the Blue Dragons had a majority of the possession, but couldn’t find the equalizer.

The Blue Dragons outshot Butler (17-2-2) 12-7 overall and 7-3 in shots on goal.

The Butler defense marked Hutchinson’s top scorer, Isabell Van Fleet, hard throughout the game. She was able to get only one shot off. Olivia Tamaki had three shots on goal, while Poppy Smith, Lucy Bacon, Brecken Murphy and Zemyna Lekaviciute all had shots on goal stopped by Butler keeper Estelle Olive.

Hutchinson’s best flurry of scoring chances came midway through the second half.

Tamaki had two good chances and Murphy had another in a four-minute span, but Olive made saves on all three shots.

Helshani had three saves in the game.

The Blue Dragons are now 28-17 all-time in the Region 6 Tournament, including 8-9 in the semifinal round. The Blue Dragons have played in three-straight Region 6 semifinals. The Blue Dragons are 6-8 all-time against Butler in the Region 6 Tournament and 13-18-5 all-time against the Grizzlies.
