The Hutchinson Community College football team is the preseason choice of league coaches to repeat as KJCCC champion in 2026.
The league’s annual Preseason Predicted Order of Finish was released on Monday. The Predicted Order of Finished is voted on by the KJCCC Football head coaches.
The 2026 Blue Dragons began preparation to win a sixth-straight conference title on Sunday. Last season, Hutchinson won its 13th KJCCC Football championship going undefeated (6-0) en route to advancing all the way to the 2025 NJCAA Division I Football championship game.
This is the eighth-straight season the Blue Dragons were the KJCCC preseason pick to win the league football championship.
Beginning his seventh season as head coach, Drew Dallas (60-6 in his first six seasons) returns 30 players who were part of an 11-1 team from last season. Hutchinson rolled past Northwest Mississippi in the national semifinals at Gowans Stadium, but fell short in the national title game in Canyon, Texas to Iowa Western.
The Blue Dragons received 6 of the 7 first-place votes in the 2026 voting for 48 points. Coffeyville had the other first-place vote and was second with 38 points.
The remainder of the 2026 predicted order of finish has Garden City third, Butler fourth, Dodge City fifth, Independence sixth and Highland seventh.
The Blue Dragons open the season on a Thursday night against Cisco College at 7 p.m. on August 20 at Gowans Stadium. The remainder of a very competitive home schedule as Garden City at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 12, Iowa Western at Noon on September 26, Independence at Noon on October 10, NEO at Noon on October 24 and Dodge City at 5 p.m. on October 31.
