COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – All the Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team did in its first round of the 2026-27 season on Monday was post the fourth-lowest team score on a par-72 course in team history.
So what did Hutchinson do for an encore in the second round of the Bent Tree Intercollegiate on Monday?
The No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons put up the second-lowest team school in program history and leads the tournament by 29 strokes after 36 holes at Bent Tree Golf Club.

The Blue Dragons shot a 27-under-par score of 549 through the first two rounds on Monday. Park University is second at (578), 29 strokes off the pace. Nebraska Wesleyan and Dodge City are tied for third at 579.
The final round of the Bent Tree Intercollegiate will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
Hutchinson posted a 12-under 276 in the opening round on Monday morning, which ranks as the fourth-lowest team score in Blue Dragon history on a par-72 course. The Blue Dragons counted rounds of 65 by Charlie Rusbridge, 68 by Grant Hatzenbuehler, 71 by Harry Richmond and 72 by Hugo Duquaine.
Led by a pair of 66s from Rusbridge and Richmond, the Blue Dragons posted a 15-under 273 in the second round, which is the second-lowest team score on a par-72 course in team history. The Dragons also counted Hatzenbuehler’s 70 and Duquaine’s 71.
The lowest team score on a par-72 course in team history was 270, which was shot in the second round of the 2020 NJCAA National Preview at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
Hutchinson’s 27-under team score on Monday is the second-lowest through 36 holes of a 54-hole tournament on a Par-72 course in team history. The lowest 36-hole score was 545 (31-under par) at the 2020 NJCAA National Preview.
Four Blue Dragon golfers are in the Top 8 of the individual standings through 36 holes.
Rusbridge has a six-stroke lead in the individual standings after shooting a 13-under-par 131 on Monday. Rusbridge’s opening-round 65 had eight birdies and nine pars. Rusbridge’s only bogey was on the final hole of the round. He immediately made up for that with an eagle on the first hole of the second round. Rusbridge shot a 66 with four birdies and an eagle.
Richmond is second at 7-under 137. After an opening-round 71, Richmond carded seven birdies and only one bogey in the second round for a 66.
Hatzenbuehler shot a 68 in the opening round and then carded his seventh career eagle in Round 2 to shoot a 70. Hatzenbuehler is third at 6-under 138.
Duquaine is tied for eighth at 1-under 143. Matt Vearncombe is 17th at 3-over 147 after rounds of 74 and 73.
The Blue Dragons are playing a pair of individual players this week.
Freshman Grant Labuschagne is tied for 20th at 5-over 249. Labuschagne opened with an 80 on Monday, but made an 11-stroke improvement in the afternoon round with a 69.
Freshman Tom Chapman is tied for 44th at 162 (81-82).
