Wichita Trinity Academy clipped Andale 309 strokes to 311 to win the Cheney High School Boys Invitational Golf Tournament Monday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney.
Rose Hill placed third with a 343 score, followed by Maize South 349, Garden Plain 351, Cheney 353, Wellington 357, Sterling 363, Kingman 372, Clearwater 391, Mulvane 397, Chaparral 404, Wichita Heights 411, Pretty Prairie 418 and Medicine Lodge 429.
Wichita Trinity’s Alex Majors captured first-place individual medalist honors with a 1-under par score of 71. Wellington’s Ethan Brungardt placed second with a 3-over-par 75 and Andale’s Cavan Schueller was third with a 4-over-par 76.
Wichita Trinity’s Cole Palmer and Cooper Martsolf and Andale’s Sam Kuepker placed fourth, fifth and sixth with 77s.
Rounding out the top 10 medal-winners were Andale’s Jackson Bell, 78; Cheney’s Kooper Williams, 79; Andale’s Brooks Dyer, 80; and Sterling’s Cameron Morris, 82.
Andale’s Oliver Spexarth and Brody Calvert placed 12th and 14th with 83s. Garden Plain’s Nate Eck and Clearwater’s Tyler Campbell placed 11th and 13th with 83s.
Sterling’s Wyatt Newberry placed 23rd, 86; Lane Weigel, 46th, 97; Ian Dillard, 50th, 98; and Billy Higgins, 75th, 118.
Eli Young was Pretty Prairie’s top golfer with a 100, followed by Eli Anderson, 60th, 103; Weston Lanning, 63rd, 105; Collin Weide, 70th, 110; and Dawson Dick, 73rd, 112.
Cheney’s Caeden Mruk placed 28th with an 89, followed by Nolan Durr, 34th, 92; Jameson Griffin, 36th, 88; Carter Hostetler, 39th, 93; Cayle Mruk, 48th, 98; and Hunter Simmons, 78th, 138.
