Jenks, OK. – Due to the expected weather conditions over the weekend, both coaching staffs agreed to move Friday’s matches up, with the women’s match at 3 p.m. and the men’s match at 5 p.m. Although the games were originally scheduled to take place in Bartlesville, Okla., they were relocated to Jenks, Okla., to ensure safe playing conditions.
The Bethany College Swedes Women’s Soccer team faced a challenging matchup against the No. 7-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles. Playing short-handed due to injuries and suspensions, the Swedes showed courage and determination throughout the afternoon.
The Eagles struck early, scoring within the first three minutes of the match. However, Bethany settled in defensively and began to find their rhythm, holding strong for over 25 minutes before Oklahoma Wesleyan managed to add three more goals late in the first half to make it 4–0 at the break.
In the second half, the Swedes demonstrated improved organization and continued to battle, limiting the Eagles to just one additional goal while creating a few attacking moments of their own. Despite the 5–0 final score, Bethany showed progress and resilience against one of the top teams in the nation.
