Jace Darnauer rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns, and Sterling used a barrage of big plays to beat Moundridge 53-21 Friday in Sterling.
Jacob Lewis opened the game with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and added 79 rushing yards and another score.
Nolan Wellman rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while Deryn Maxwell added 99 yards and a score.
Moundridge’s Tione Wilson rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, but Sterling shut out Moundridge in the second half.
Sterling improves to 1-0 and faces Trinity Catholic next week, while Moundridge falls to 0-1 and takes on Sedgwick.
