Sterling native Tyus Wilson of the United States continues to reach new heights, clearing a personal-best 2.30 meters (7 feet, 6½ inches) to finish second at the Monaco Athletics Festival against an outstanding international field.
American JuVaughn Harrison placed first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 2.34 meters (7-6 3/4). Harrison now has the world’s best effort in 2026.
The performance comes just weeks after Wilson captured his second consecutive USA Outdoor High Jump Championship, continuing his rise among the world’s elite high jumpers.
Wilson won three state championships at Sterling High School. An opportunity for a fourth state title was taken away because the 2020 season was canceled because of COVID-19.
Wilson won the NCAA high jump title while competing for the University of Nebraska.
