Sterling Boys Golf Team Wins Marion Invitational, Cameron Morris Places 2nd

The Sterling High School boys golf team captured first place in the 36-hole Marion Invitational Friday at the par-72 Marion Country Club.

Sterling placed first in the team standings with a 691 score (343-348), followed by Pratt 740 (367-373), Halstead 742 (371-371), Hillsboro 749 (365-384) and Cheney 772 (389-383).

Marion did not field enough players for a team score. The top 10 players earned medals.

Pratt’s Beau Ferrell placed first with a 160 score (81-79). He defeated Sterling’s Cameron Morris in a playoff. Morris also posted a 160 score (80-80). Sterling’s Wyatt Newberry placed third with a 167 score (82-85).

Halstead’s Maxx Linton placed fourth with a 171 score (87-84) and Sterling’s Lane Weigel was fifth at 177 (89-88).
