The 2026 season came to an end for the Inman High School girls softball team.
The Teutons lost 9-4 to Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan in the Kansas Class 2A state quarterfinals Monday afternoon at Emporia’s Trussler Sports Complex.
Inman finished the season with a 24-3 record.
In the other Class 2A state quarterfinal games Monday, Dexter/Cedar Vale defeated Central Heights 7-3, Mission Valley defeated Rossville 5-0 and Uniontown upset Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian 4-3.
Colgan (25-3) will play No. 1 Dexter/Cedar Vale (28-2) in the Class 2-A state semifinals at 11 a.m. Thursday at University of Kansas Arrocha Park.
The 1 p.m. Class 2A semifinal game Thursday features Mission Valley (28-2) vs. Uniontown (21-6).
The Class 2A semifinal losers play for third-place at 11 a.m. Friday and the winners will play for the state title at 4 p.m. Friday.
Inman jumped out to a 2-0 lead with one run in the bottom of the first inning and one on the third.
The Colgan Panthers scored four runs in the top of the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Teutons scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and one in the seventh.
Colgan collected 11 hits and Inman had seven. The Teutons committed six errors.
Colgan pitcher Bella Ascanio struck out 11 batters in a complete game effort. She also helped herself at the plate with an RBI single in the opening inning.
In Colgan’s four-run fifth inning, Callie Lundy delivered a two-run double and Addie Morris added an RBI single.
Brooklynn Barrows, Lundy and Morris each collected two hits, while Lundy and Kara Osborn each drove in two runs. Barrows also stole two bases.
Inman junior Lyla Levin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs batted in. Elle Thimmesch had two hits, including a double, and drove in one run.
Sharley Leonhardt, Maddie Parsons and Tyler Froese each had one hit. Ella Holzman and Taylor Froese each had an RBI. Holzman, Levin, Taylor Froese and Marlee Ballard each drew one walk. Parsons had one stolen base.
Levin was the Inman starting pitcher. She allowed 10 hits, nine runs (five earned), walked five and struck out four. Levin posted a 14-3 pitching record this season.
The No. 4-seed Inman Teutons posted a 16-0 record in Heart of America League play this season. In addition to Colgan, the Teutons lost to Haven and Hesston.
Inman went 3-0 in regional play, outscored regional opponents 37-4 and outscored opponents 332-249 during the season.
The Inman softball team posted a Kansas Class 2A state runner-up finish in 2025 and a fourth-place finish in 2024. Inman placed second in 2007.
The 2026 Inman High School softball roster consisted of Sharley Leonhardt, Maddi Parsons, Lilah Sawyer, Adi Alcala, Ella Holzman, Lyla Levin, Taylor Froese, Marlee Ballard, Micah Ballard, Elle Thimmesch, Alexis Noone, Allison Schrag, Cheyenne Smith and Genavieve Hargitt.
The Inman head coach is Tina Broomfield. She was assisted by Rebecca Butler. Team managers were Gracin Bergmeier, Raynee Eddy and Jaycelyn Richter.
