Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Hutchinson Community College softball pitcher Jessica Schmidt and outfielder Kaibryn Kruger were named to the Region 6 Tournament All-Tournament team.
Schmidt and Kruger were key figures in the 2026 Blue Dragons winning the Jayhawk Conference regular-season championship. The Blue Dragons were 2-2 in the Region 6 Tournament, falling in the loser’s bracket final to end their season 42-14.
In the tournament, Schmidt, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Norfolk, Nebraska, made three appearances all in relief. She earned one save in a 5-3 win over Pratt which tied Riley Wertz for the Hutchinson single-season record for saves.
Schmidt worked 10 2-3 innings, striking out 15 and walking nine, while allowing an opponent batting average of .154. She had an earned-run average of 0.66 in the tournament.
Kruger, a sophomore center fielder from Silver Lake, hit .364 (4 for 11) with two doubles, a home run with four RBIs and six runs scored. Kruger was 4 for 4 in stolen bases.
