Regular Season Concludes for Bullpup Boys Golf, Girls Swimming, and Track & Field

McPHERSON, Kan. – The spring sports are beginning to wind down, as McPherson High School’s Boys Golf, Girls Swimming, and Track & Field teams concluded their regular seasons on May 7.


BOYS GOLF

The McPherson Boys Golf team finished its regular season on a high note, placing 2nd in the Winfield Invitational on Thursday, May 7.

FULL RESULTS

Junior Cole Cooper, who is ranked as the No. 6 golfer in 4A by the Kansas Golf Coaches Association (KGCA), won the invitational individually. Cooper shot a score of 70, which is two-under par at the Quail Ridge Golf Course.

Hunter Vogelsberg medaled as well, placing 9th with a score of 82. Jaxon Hoover tied for 25th with 89, Hudson Krehbiel tied for 32nd with a score of 91, Rogan Jones finished tied for 38th with 92 strokes, and Brandon Ek tied for 52nd with a score of 98.

McPherson finished with 332 total strokes, just five behind Winfield, who won the Invite. Chanute finished 3rd with 338.

McPherson begins their postseason on Tuesday, May 12, for the AVCTL meet at Willowbend Golf Club in Wichita.


GIRLS SWIMMING

The Girls Swim team at McPherson concluded their regular season on Thursday, May 7, at the Newton Invitational.

McPherson finished 2nd in the invite, just nine points behind Marion. Hays placed 3rd.

Ella Schrag was the lone event winner of the day, winning the 100 Butterfly. Schrag also placed 3rd in the 100 Backstroke.

Adyson Wiens had a strong day as well, placing 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke. She also earned a new state qualifying time in the 50 Freestyle of 26.54 seconds.

Brinnley Robinson faced 3rd in the 200 Freestyle. The 200 Medley Relay team placed 3rd as well.

McPherson will begin their postseason with the AVCTL meet on Friday, May 15, at the Hutchinson YMCA.


TRACK & FIELD

The Bullpup Track & Field team finished the 2026 regular season at the Hesston Varsity Invitational on Thursday, May 7. The Boys team placed 2nd while the Girls finished 4th.

FULL RESULTS

Freshman Kinnick Anderson was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the meet after winning the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Caleb Muehler, who was the Outstanding Male Athlete of the meet in 2024, won the 800m Run, capping a 1-2-3 finish for McPherson in the event. Muehler also placed 3rd in the 3200m Run.

Ashton Malm finished 2nd in the 100m Dash, just ahead of Jayren Stutzman’s 3rd place finish. Malm’s mark of 10.79 is a top-3 time in 4A. Daniel Bowen placed 3rd in the 400m Run, and Caden Wenderott placed 2nd in the Discus.

On the Girls’ Side, Elley Paulsen broke into a Top 10 time in 4A in the 100m Hurdles, running 16.57 seconds in the preliminaries. Junior Amara Dossett and senior Adri McLeod set new PR’s in the 100m with 12.89 and 12.91 seconds, respectively. That mark puts them in the top 20 in the state, while placing 3rd and 4th, respectively, in the meet.

McLeod also finished 3rd in the 200m Run, and the 4x400m Relay team finished 3rd. Karsen Burris had a 2nd-place finish in the Javelin, and Brynn Littlejohn finished 3rd in the Shot Put.

The Bullpups begin their postseason in the AVCTL Meet on Thursday, May 14, at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield.
