Nickerson High School’s Katy King was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Chaparral Tournament Saturday.
King helped the Panthers place fourth in the tournament.
Also named to the All-Tournament Team were Cheney’s Landry Voth and Berkley McKinley, Wellington’s Vivienne Wright and Kirsten Gregory, Chaparral’s Makiya Maka and Aliya Davis and Rose Hill’s Chloe Mock.
King and her Panther teammates hosted Halstead and Hillsboro in a Central Kansas League triangular Tuesday night at the Nickerson High School gymnasium.
The Halstead varsity volleyball team went 2-0 Tuesday defeating both Nickerson and Hillsboro in straight sets.
Halstead defeated Nickerson 25-8, 25-12 and Hillsboro 25-18, 25-21. Hillsboro defeated Nickerson 25-15, 25-12.
The Nickerson JV volleyball team lost both of its matches and the Panther C ream won both of its matches.
Nickerson honored six seniors on Senior Night before the start of the Nickerson-Hillsboro match: King, Taylor Wood, Cori Williams, Denae Engelland, Kaley Beard and Sophia DiDomenico.
In other area volleyball action Tuesday night:
• The Hesston volleyball team swept its matches at the Smoky Valley CKL Triangular Tuesday at Lindsborg.
Hesston defeated Larned 25-12, 25-14 and Smoky Valley 25-13, 25-13. Smoky Valley defeated Larned 25-16, 25-7.
• The Inman volleyball team swept Bennington in two matches Tuesday at Bennington.
The Teutons won the first match 15-25, 25-23, 25-17 and the second match 25-22, 25-20.
The Inman JV volleyball team lost to Bennington 25-21, 25-20.
• The Hoisington High School volleyball team defeated Pratt 25-8, 25-21 and Haven 25-13, 25-13 Tuesday in the Pratt Central Kansas League Triangular. Haven lost to Pratt 25-16, 25-17.
Hoisington will host the Cardinal Classic Saturday at the Hoisington Activity Center.
• The Ellinwood High School volleyball team extended its winning streak to 63 matches with a 3-0 record Tuesday at the Kinsley Quad.
Ellinwood defeated St. John 25-15, 25-10; Kinsley 25-9, 25-6 and Central Plains 25-10, 25-9.
St. John defeated Central Plains, 25-20, 25-22 and Kinsley, 25-12, 25-17. Central Plains def. Kinsley 25-15, 25-16.
