Cooper Harris pitched five strong innings Sunday, followed by two strong innings in relief by Brayden Henry, and the Hutchinson Monarchs won their 2026 home debut by routing the Performance Factory Phenoms 12-2 at Hobart-Detter Field.

The game ended after the top of the seventh inning due to the 10-run mercy rule. The game was postponed from Saturday due to storms.

Harris allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out nine. Henry followed with similar numbers, giving up one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.

The Monarchs’ patience at the plate was more valuable than their hitting as they had more walks (11) than hits (seven). Nash Wray had a pair of walks and one single, and the Monarchs’ leadoff hitter also scored three runs.

Wes Baker was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Brady Taylor drove in three runs.

The Monarchs improve to 2-0 and return home for a 7 p.m. game Monday against the Kingman Islanders.
