McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School varsity volleyball team hit the court Tuesday night after a week off to host some tough competition. The Bullpups split their matches with Rose Hill and Circle.
Against the Rockets, McPherson was able to take the first set 25-20 and held on for a 25-23 win in the second set to get the straight set win.
The second match was against Circle, who is #6 in the 4A rankings, one spot ahead of the Bullpups at #7. The Thunderbirds came out on top in a tough battle, winning in straight sets, 25-22 and 25-20.
For the night, Harper Rierson led the offensive attack for McPherson with 16 kills, while Carmin Pavlovich added 15 and Piper Solofra had nine in the two matches combined. Rylie Whitfield had 39 total assists and is now at 199 on the season. Carmin Pavlovich led the team with 19 digs and Elles Pavlovich tallied 12 digs.
McPherson is now 7-4 on the season and 2-1 against AVCTL Division III foes. They will be back in action on Saturday at the Wichita Southeast Tournament at 9:00.
