SEDGWICK, Kan. – High schools around the state of Kansas are preparing for this weekend’s Kansas Trap Shooting State Tournament, held June 14-15 at the Kansas Trapshooting Association in Sedgwick.
According to their website, more than 110 high schools featuring over 1,500 student athletes are expected to participate in the tournament. The sessions are split up by the two classifications from the Kansas State High School Clay Target League. 1A’s session is Saturday while 2A will be Sunday. Sessions will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the award ceremonies will be at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Each team, which will have a minimum of five participants, will compete in their respective classifications: Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. The classifications are based on the athlete’s Spring season-ending average from the regular season schedule.
