McPHERSON, Kan. – A strong showing of offense in both games and a no-hitter thrown by senior Cade Strathman against Rock Creek helped contribute to a pair of wins in McPherson High School Baseball’s second quad of the week on Friday, April 24.

McPherson began vs. Lyons/Sterling, defeating the Lions 9-2. The Bullpups put up three runs in the third inning to strike first, but Lyons/Sterling brought it back to a one-run game, after scoring a run in the 4th and 5th. McPherson pulled away in the sixth inning, scoring six runs to win 9-2.

Adrian Unruh, who entered the game hitting 3-24 on the season, hit 3-3 against the Lions. Graham Prescott went 2-4 with 3 RBI’s. Cru Buchman earned the win on the mound, striking out six batters in six innings. Brady Rinker closed it out in the seventh.

The Bullpups then took on the Rock Creek Mustangs, in a rematch of the 2025 State Semifinals, where the Mustangs defeated the Bullpups in extras. This time around, McPherson did not give up a hit, and were a dropped third strike and an error away from a perfect game, run-ruling Rock Creek 10-0 in five innings.

Cade Strathman threw a no-hitter, throwing just 54 pitches in five innings, striking out eight batters. Strathman faced only 15 batters and did not give up a walk. Offensively, Carter Bengtson led, hitting 3-3 with a double. All but one player in the starting lineup recorded a hit. Rinker, Cowen Huggard, and Nolan Pearcy had two RBI’s each.

McPherson improves to 14-4 on the season. They’ll face a tough schedule in the upcoming week, starting with Senior Night at home on Monday, April 27 against Wichita Collegiate. They will then travel to Oklahoma City on Friday, May 1 for a triangular at Carl Albert High School, facing Carl Albert (OK) then Midwest City (OK).
