Sofia Simic enters her senior season as one of the most accomplished volleyball players in Kansas after leading Hoisington High School to a 38-7 record and a fourth-place finish in Class 3A last fall.

The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was named the 2025 Class 3A Player of the Year and has earned back-to-back All-State honors while already piling up 1,642 career kills.

Sports in Kansas named Simic as a Player to Watch in 2026. She will play volleyball at the University of Illinois next season.

Simic also owns the Kansas all-class, all-time single-season record for aces after recording 164 during her sophomore campaign.

As a junior, she added 574 kills, 115 aces, and a .334 hitting percentage, continuing to establish herself as one of the state’s most dominant offensive players.

Alongside teammates Kinley Wilkens, Reese Vaughn and Brynn Tarleton, she will lead another talented Hoisington squad with championship aspirations.

“This season feels so special with this group of girls,” Simic told Sports in Kansas. “Our upperclassmen have worked so hard the last three years to make it to state and barely fell short of taking it.

“This year feels like what we have been working for. Our team chemistry and hard work ethic is what is going to make this a memorable season for Hoisington volleyball.”

Simic also recently started her own coffee business, Sofi Sips, where she said she enjoys meeting people in her community.

Simic’s mother, Sarah Cotten, was a Player of the Year at Hoisington before continuing her career at the University of Alabama.
