The Hesston Swathers boys golf team placed second with a 617 score at the Kansas Class 3A state tournament, held Tuesday and Wednesday at Topeka’s Lake Shawnee Golf Course.
Wichita Collegiate won the 3A boys state title with a 606 score, led by first-place medalist Landon Langston with a 149 score and second-place finisher Bronx Esterline with a 149.
Hesston’s Isaac Rusche placed third with a 151 score (75-76). Russell’s Jake Mooney, Wichita Collegiate’s Remy Blanchaert and Holton’s Easton Moulin tied for fourth at 152.
Hesston’s Austin Penner and Carter Frey tied for 11th place with three other golfers at 155, followed by teammate Aiden Bridgeman, tied for 16th, 156; Evan Koehn, toed for 18th, 158; and Reece Buhrman, tied for 33rd, 164.
The top 20 golfers plus ties received medals.
Wichita Trinity Academy placed third, 638; Sabetha, fourth, 652; Nemaha Central, fifth, 664; and Bonner Springs, sixth, 670.
