Hesston Girls’ Season Ends in State Quarterfinal to Silver Lake, 54-45

The Silver Lake girls advanced to the Class 3A state semifinals a hard-fought win over a Hesston team that gave the Eagles all they could handle, as Silver Lake won 54-45.  

Silver Lake led 15-9 after one period and 28-21 at the break. The Eagles led by as many as 12 but the Swathers cut the lead to six at the end of the third quarter at 39-33.  With 6:03 remaining, Hesston tied the game 39-39, but Silver Lake went on a 15-6 run to close the game.

Kailyn Hanni led the way for Silver Lake with a game high 29 points on nine field goals and going 11 of 15 from the charity stripe. Hanni also had four rebounds, six steals and two assists. 

Hesston had two players in double figures, as Jaci Proctor had 15 points and Tessa Martin added 12.

Silver Lake improves to 26-1 and will advance to the semifinals on Friday at the Sports Arena at Hutchinson to face Holcomb.  Hesston finishes their season with a record of 17-10.
