The Haysville Aviators took advantage of six walks, five hit batters and an error in beating the Hutchinson Monarchs 12-5 on Tuesday in Haysville.
The game was tied 4-4 at the midway point, and Haysville scored once in the fifth inning, twice in the sixth and five times in the seventh. The seventh inning was a nightmare for the Monarchs, as the hit three batters, walked two and committed an error. Haysville had just one hit in the inning.
Wes Baker had two of the Monarchs’ seven hits, including a home run.
Carter Harrington took the loss on the mound, even though he gave up just one run on one hit in 1 2/3 innings pitched.
The Monarchs fall to 8-4 and will take on Haysville again at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hobart-Detter Field.
