Haven Wildcats Baseball Team Advances to Regional Semifinals

The Haven Wildcat baseball team advanced to the Kansas Class 3A Region 3 Regional 2 semifinals with a 6-3 victory over Kingman/Norwich in the quarterfinals Wednesday at Kingman.

Haven (14-11), the No. 10 seed, will play No. 2 seed Burlington (21-2) in the semifinals Tuesday at Burlington. Burlington defeated No. 15 Fredonia 14-0 in the quarterfinals.

Kingman/Norwich finished the season with a 16-9 record and Fredonia finished 3-14.

In the other quarterfinal matchups, No. 3 seed Southeast of Saline defeated No. 14 Hillsboro 15-0 and No. 6 Chaparral defeated Conway Springs/Argonia Reds 10-5.

Southeast of Saline will play Chaparral (16-7) in the semifinals at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Burlington.

• In the Kansas Class 3A Regional 4 Region 2 quarterfinals, No. 9 seed Halstead lost to No. 8 Cheney 7-2 Wednesday at Cheney.

Cheney (18-9) will play at No. 1 Council Grove Tuesday. Council Grove (24-1) defeated Herington 15-0.

Halstead finished the season with a 13-11 record and Herington finished 3-19.

In the other Region 1 quarterfinals, No. 12 Hesston lost to No. 5 Wichita Collegiate 15-3 and No. 4 Wichita Trinity Academy defeated No. 13 Osage City 14-0.

WTA will play Collegiate in the regional semifinals Tuesday at Council Grove.

Hesston finished the season with an 11-12 record. Osage City finished 8-17.
