The Haven and Southeast of Saline softball teams captured Kansas Class 3A regional championships Thursday and advanced to the state tournament quarterfinals.
After defeating Halstead 11-4 in the Regional 3 Region 2 semifinals at Haven Thursday, Haven (27-2) defeated Osage City 9-4 in the championship. Osage City (24-5) defeated Kingman/Norwich 4-2 in the semifinals.
In the Regional 3 Region 1 semifinals, Southeast of Saline defeated Hesston 6-0 and Wichita Trinity Academy defeated Conway Springs/Argonia 7-4. Southeast of Saline (24-1) defeated WTA 3-2 in the title game.
Southeast of Saline is the No. 1 seed in the 3A state softball quarterfinals and Haven is No. 2. The 3A quarterfinals begin on Monday.
Southeast of Saline will play No. 8 Lakin (15-12) at 1 p.m. Monday at Salina South. The Southeast of Saline-Lakin winner will play the winner of No. 4 Frontenac (21-4) vs. No. 5 Jefferson West (21-6) in the semifinals.
Haven (27-2) will play No. 7 Baxter Springs (17-10) at 4 p.m. Monday at Emporia State University’s Trusler Sports Complex. The Haven-Baxter Springs winner will play the winner of the Silver Lake (25-4) vs. Colby (21-6) quarterfinal game at 5 p.m. Monday at Emporia State.
In the Kansas Class 2A softball quarterfinals, Inman (24-2) is the No. 4 seed. The Teutons will play No. 5 St. Mary’s-Pittsburg Colgan (24-3) at 11 a.m. Monday at Emporia State.
The Inman-Colgan winner will play the winner of the 11 a.m. Monday quarterfinal game at Emporia State between Dexter/Cedar Vale (27-2) vs. Central Heights (20-7).
In the bottom bracket, Mission Valley (27-2) plays Rossville (22-7) at 11 a.m. Monday at Topeka’s Envista Field and Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian (27-2) plays Uniontown (20-6) at 3 p.m.Monday at Salina South.
In the Kansas Class 4A state quarterfinals, Andale (19-5) is the No. 6 seed and McPherson (21-7) in the No. 8 seed.
McPherson will play No. 1 Fort Scott (25-3) at 4 p.m. at Baker University. The winner will play the Rock Creek (23-4)-Chapman (23-5) winner in the semifinals.
Andale will play Clearwater (24-4) at 11 .m. Monday at Salina South. The winner advances to the state semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinal between Santa Fe Trail (25-3) vs. Wamego (20-6) being played at 3 p.m. at Topeka Envista.
