The Kansas Class 3A state softball tournament third-place game between No. 2-seed Haven and No. 5 Jefferson West was canceled Thursday because of rain and will not be made up.
Haven (28-3) and Jefferson West (22-7) officially tied for third place.
The game started but then went into a delay because of falling rain at Lawrence Free State.
The game originally was moved to Lawrence Free State High School from the University of Kansas’ Arrocha Ballpark-Rock Chalk Park because of wet playing conditions caused by an overnight rainstorm.
Haven defeated Baxter Springs 8-4 in the first round and lost to Silver Lake 12-6 in the semifinals.
Five seniors played their final games in a Haven Wildcat softball uniform: Sierra Yoder, Mayzie Warden, Avery Brawner, Karlee Cooprider and Morgan O’Neal.
The Class 3A state softball championship game between No. 1 seed Southeast of Saline (26-1) and No. 3 Silver Lake (27-4) is scheduled to be played at 11 A.M. Saturday at Arrocha Ballpark.
