The Halstead High School volleyball team captured the Hillsboro Trojan Classic championship Saturday.
The Halstead Dragons defeated Haven 25-17, 30-28, Rock Creek 25-17, 27-25, Hillsboro 19-25, 28-26, 25-17 and Chapman 25-13, 25-18.
Hillsboro is ranked second in Class 2A by the Kansas Volleyball Association, Halstead is ranked third in Class 3A and Rock Creek is ranked fifth in Class 4A.
The Dragons are led by outside hitters Bailey Bernal and Katharine Engel, right side hitter Annie Williams, setter Jordy Schroeder and libero Daynica Euwer.
The Dragons got a boost this week with the return of all state volleyball and basketball player Piper Schroeder as she returned from her ACL injury last basketball season.
The Dragons improved to 28-5.
