Great Bend High School cross country runner Decorah Schroeter placed fourth in the varsity girls 5K race at the 37th annual Missouri Southern University Stampede Saturday in Joplin, Mo.
Schroeter posted a school-record best time of 18 minutes, 17.66 seconds. Her time is currently the third-fastest in Kansas Class 5A and the fourth-fastest across all classes in Kansas.
Wichita Kapaun-Mount Carmel’s Ava Classen placed first in the varsity girls 5K with a time of 17:17.7.
Great Bend’s Bella Long placed 98th with a time of 21:05.24, followed by Samantha Negaard, 145th, 21:54.22; Alyssa Prendergast, 205th, 22:52.83; Sydney James, 233rd, 23:33.96; amd Rhayna Jording, 297th, 24:53.54.
Brogan Lashley was the Panthers’ top finisher in the varsity boys 5K race with a 61st-place time of 17:03.81.
Isaac Aldana placed 118th, 17:47.6; Dalton Gregg, 125th, 17:54.08; Noah Kaiser, 184th, 18:30.96; Alexis Garcia, 250th, 19:20.72; and Deacon Singleton, 382nd, 21:32.86.
