The Ellinwood Eagles volleyball team defeated Russell 3 sets to 0 Thursday night to improve their 13-0 season record and extend their winning streak to 60 consecutive matches.
Ellinwood, which captured the Kansas Class 2A state volleyball title with a 47-0 record in 2025, downed the Broncos 25-13, 25-10, 25-10.
The Ellinwood Facebook page says “the streak continues. Keep soaring Eagles!”
Ellinwood’s wining streak pushed the Eagles into the Top 3 nationally for the longest active high school volleyball winning streak.
The Ellinwood Eagles will play the Central Plains Oilers and the Kinsley Coyotes on Tuesday at Kinsley.
Russell (8-6) will host the Russell Invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will play straight five road triangulars and the Mid-Continent League Tournament in WaKeeney.
In other volleyball action from Thursday:
• The Hillsboro High School varsity volleyball team defeated Sedgwick at home 25-17, 25-20, 25-17.
The Hillsboro junior varsity team won its match in two sets.
