The Canton-Galva Eagles opened the season with a 52-6 win over the Goessel Bluebirds.
Goessel would take advantage of multiple Canton-Galva turnovers and an impressive ball control offense led by the running back Claudio Flores III to keep the game within a touchdown until late in the second quarter.
Canton-Galva finally got their offense going with three late scores in the second quarter to take a 32-6 lead into halftime. The momentum would continue in favor of Canton-Galva, ending the game after the third quarter. Drayden Hoppes, the quarterback for Canton-Galva, threw two touchdown passes and had two touchdown runs.
The lone Goessel score came from Wyatt Sommerfeld on a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown.
