McPHERSON, Kan. – Two strong offensive showings for McPherson High School Softball saw the Bullpups sweep Mulvane on Friday, April 17, winning 17-12 & 11-3.
Game one saw 19 hits for the Bullpups, led by Carmin Pavlovich hitting 4-5. Pera Bauer went 3-3 and Rylie Whitfield 3-4 with four runs. Brooke Doile also went 3-5, and Kynedi Huggard went 2-3 with a double and a home run, driving home a team-high 4 RBI. Pavlovich earned the win in the circle, despite giving up 15 hits and 12 runs.
McPherson’s defense held Mulvane in game two to run away with their fifth straight victory, 11-3. The game was tied 3-3 after three innings, but McPherson put up three runs in the 4th and five in the 6th to win handily. Kynedi Huggard went 2-2 with two RBI, while Ashlyn Schroeder went 2-3 and Brooke Doile 2-4 with a triple. Schroeder got the win, pitching all seven innings and striking out three batters.
McPherson improves to 12-4 on the season, 7-1 in AVCTL-3 play. They will now prepare for two quads this week, beginning on Tuesday, April 21. The Bullpups will host Emporia in game one at 4:00 p.m., then will face either Derby or Rose Hill.
