Bullpup Softball Defeats Wamego, Falls to SE of Saline on Senior Night

McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Softball hosted their Senior Night on Friday, April 24, splitting their second quad of the season.

The Bullpups led off by defeating Wamego 3-1 in a pitchers’ duel. Both teams were scoreless in the first five innings, but Wamego got on the board on a sacrifice fly to lead 1-0 in the top of the 6th. McPherson answered back, scoring two runs after a defensive error brought home two runs with the bases loaded. Hadley Bearly extended the lead for McPherson on a sac fly, putting McPherson up 3-1.

Carmin Pavlovich struck out three batters in the 7th to pull McPherson away with the victory. Pavlovich threw the full game, striking out nine batters. Ashlyn Schroeder led McPherson’s offense, hitting 3-3.

McPherson followed up by facing Southeast of Saline, but fell 7-2. McPherson trailed 2-0, but pulled within one in the third inning, but the Trojans pulled away with two multi-run innings to defeat McPherson.

The Bullpups fall to 14-6 on the season. They will travel to Pratt to face the Pratt High School Greenbacks on Tuesday, April 28. The doubleheader will be broadcast live on 98.9/1540 KMCP, mcphersonradio.com, and the Ad Astra Radio mobile app.
