EL DORADO, Kan. – The McPherson boys soccer team got off to a hot start on Tuesday night in El Dorado, scoring four goals in the first nine minutes and went on to an 8-0 win over the Wildcats in the end.
Yahir Valadez scored the first two goals in the opening stretch for the Bullpups, followed by goals from Jackson Martin and Grayson Broadus. Valadez would add another goal to put McPherson up 5-0, scoring is second straight game with a hat trick of three goals. Broadus and Martin each scored again to put the Bullpups up 7-0 and Parker Riemann scored the final goal for the 8-0 shutout.
The McPherson defense also kept the ball away from their own goal as Hunter Schroeder was not asked to make any saves in the match.
“I was pleased with the way the boys played to their level and took advantage of their opportunities,” said head coach Chris Adrian. “The game also gave us a good opportunity to work on some of the attacking combinations we have been practicing. It was nice to see those ideas starting to show up in the game and see the boys play with confidence in the attacking third.
McPherson is now 3-2 on the season at the varsity level and will be back at home to face Salina South on Thursday night at 6:30.
Also on Tuesday night, the McPherson JV made it a sweep for the night as they picked up an identical 8-0 win over the El Dorado JV squad.
