Bullpup Boys Golf Places 2nd in Salina Invitational

SALINA, Kan. – McPherson High School Boys Golf shrugged off their 21st-place day at the Hilst Invitational on Friday, May 1, by placing second in the Salina Invitational on Tuesday, May 5.

Cole Cooper tied for 4th in the event, scoring 78 (+8) in the event. Brandon Ek tied for 11th with 80, and Paxton Ingels placed 13th with 81. Hunter Vogelsberg tied for 16th (83), Hudson Krehbiel & Drake Timson each tied for 20th (84), Teigan Younger tied for 26th (85), and Jaxon Hoover tied for 45th (89).

The event had 13 teams earning team scores, with 80 golfers participating. The team scores are calculated by the best four individuals per team. Hays won the event with 319 total strokes.

McPherson finished seven strokes behind Hays with 326, and Haysville-Campus placed 3rd with 330. Blaze Schultz of Topeka West High School won the event, with a score of 72 (+2).

The Bullpup JV team will head to Wichita on Wednesday, May 6, for a tournament at Sierra Hill Golf Course. The Varsity team will conclude its regular season on Thursday, May 7, in Winfield. Following the Winfield invite will be the AVCTL, Regional, and State meets.
