McPherson, Kansas – Homecoming Saturday featured McPherson Football at Brubaker Family Stadium as they took on the Bethany College Swedes in a KCAC matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs entered the contest with a 5-0 record and looked to continue their strong start to the 2026 campaign.

How it Happened
McPherson scored 70 points in the first half alone, jumping out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. Jack Finder opened the scoring with a 33-yard field goal before Ryan Markarian connected with Jamai Rutherford for a 42-yard touchdown. Max Younie added a 33-yard rushing touchdown to close out the opening quarter.
McPherson exploded for 53 points in the second quarter, extending its lead to 70-0 at halftime. The Bulldogs found the end zone through the air and on the ground, with Jalil Brown breaking free for touchdown runs of 56 and 42 yards. Markarian also connected with Younie for a 70-yard touchdown and Rutherford for two scores, including a 68-yard reception. The Bulldog defense contributed two safeties in the first half to help keep the Swedes off the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs added a 32-yard field goal from Jason Weston in the third quarter before continuing to find success offensively in the fourth. Jacob Ford connected with Brandon McCullough for a 46-yard touchdown, while Wyatt Smith found RiChard Faulks for a 14-yard score to close out the scoring.
McPherson’s defense held Bethany to just 170 total yards and forced three interceptions, while the Bulldog offense piled up 666 total yards in the dominant 87-0 victory.
Last year, McPherson set the program single-game scoring record with an 85-0 victory over Sterling College. With this win, that number has been set once more.

It’ll be a well-deserved Bye Week for the Bulldogs this week, but they’ll prepare for their second Top 25 matchup of the season on October 17th when they take on the Friends University Falcons at Brubaker Family Stadium.
