Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team suffered its first loss of the 2026 Blue Dragon Volleyball Classic falling to No. 8 Trinity Valley in three sets on Friday at the Sports Arena.
After posting the highest single-match attack percentage against a Division I opponent earlier on Friday at the Sports Arena, the Blue Dragons were held to .066 hitting against the Cardinals in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 sweep.
The Blue Dragons (7-3) had a five-match winning streak snapped and are now 2-1 in the Blue Dragon Classic. Hutchinson plays Panola at 11 a.m. and Tyler at 3 p.m. to close out the 2026 Classic.

Hutchinson had 25 kills with 20 attack errors on 76 total attacks against the Cardinals. Trinity Valley hit .316 in the match and had seven team blocks and eight service aces.
Sophomore Lauren Vasquez had a strong Friday in two matches. Against Trinity Valley, the Texas native tied for team-high honors with seven kills with five digs and a season-high three block assists.
Freshman Giovanna Monteiro also had seven kills. No other Dragon player had more than three kills.
The Blue Dragons had eight team blocks. Freshman Maria Eduarda Dias had four blocks to lead the Dragons.
Freshman setter Luisa Richa had 17 assists.
SET 1: Trinity Valley started fast scoring the match’s first eight points and 14 of the first 17 points. Trailing 18-8, ,the Dragons scored three straight points with a Mattie Galliher kill, a Galliher, Vasquez double block and an Ashley Scott ace serve. The Cardinals scored 7 of the final 10 points of the season. Trinity Valley had 11 kills and six service aces in the first set.
SET 2: A Dias-Julia Montero double block gave the Blue Dragons a 7-5 lead and increased the margin to 10-6 after a Vasquez kill. Leading 14-12 after a Monteiro kill, gave the Dragons a 14-12 lead, Trinity Valley scored six points in a row and 9 of 11 to lead 21-16. The Cardinals finished off the set on a 4-0 run.
SET 3: Hutchinson fell behind quickly by scores of 7-1, 12-2 and 14-3. The Dragons had back-to-back kills from Vasquez and Montero for its only multi-point run of the set. Trinity Valley finished off the match with a 5-1 run to complete the sweep.
