Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Following a season-opening 59-7 victory over Cisco College last Thursday at Gowans Stadium, the Hutchinson Community College football team stayed put in the first regular-season NJCAA Division I rankings.
The Top 5 teams in the preseason poll did not move after only a handful of games were played last week.
Hutchinson (1-0) travels to play Ellsworth at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
The Blue Dragons extended their program record for longest consecutive run in the national poll to 65 weeks. The Dragons have been ranked in the top three of the NJCAA Rankings for 59 consecutive polls and have been ranked No. 1 in 51 of the 84 polls released in the Drew Dallas era.
Six Blue Dragon opponents remain either in the rankings for receiving votes this week.
The Top 5 has Iowa Western at No. 1 with 9 of 10 first-place votes. The Blue Dragons had one first-place vote. Northwest Mississippi, Tyler and Mississippi Gulf Coast are teams 3 through 5.
Former No. 6 Georgia Military and former No. 10 Garden City both lost last week and slipped to Nos. 10 and 14, respectively.
