Blue Dragons Place 5 on All-Region 6 Baseball Team

For the second time in three seasons, the Hutchinson Community College softball team placed five players on the NJCAA All-Region 6 Team, which was released on Thursday morning.

Infielder Jordan Kuhnau and outfielder Cru Huenfeld were first-team all-region selections, while catcher Anthony Mazza, infielder Eli Duncan and relief pitcher Brayden Henry earned second-team honors.

The 2026 Blue Dragons tied the 2024 and 2017 teams for the most Region 6 selections in program history.

Hutchinson completed its 2026 season with a 46-15 overall record and a No. 22 ranking in the final NJCAA Division I rankings. The Blue Dragons finished second in the Jayhawk West with a 25-7 record and set nine team offensive records this season, including home runs (131), doubles (182), total hits (732) and runs scored (721).

JORDAN KUHNAU – 1st-Team Infield
A redshirt freshman from Garfield, Minnesota, Kuhnau hit .414 for the season (82 for 198) with 24 doubles, 21 home runs and 91 RBIs.

His RBI total was second highest in Blue Dragon single-season history tied for fourth most in a Blue Dragon single season. Kuhnau had an .864 slugging percentage. He was 12 of 13 in stolen bases and posted a .981 fielding percentage at first base.

Kuhnau had 26 multi-hit games, including three four-hit games against Colby on March 7, Butler on March 28 and Seward County on April 16. Kuhnau had five two-home run games this past season and he had a seven-RBI game against Butler on March 28.

CRU HUENFELD – 1st-Team Outfield
A freshman from Overland Park, Kansas, Huenfeld set the Blue Dragon single-season record for RBIs becoming the first Hutchinson player to reach 100 RBIs for a season.

Huenfeld closed out the season hitting .386 (81 for 210) with 25 doubles and 23 home runs, the second-most homer hit by a Blue Dragon in a single season. Huenfeld had an .881 slugging percentage and he stole 12 of 14 bases.

Huenfeld had 26 multi-hit games, including a pair of two four-hit games against Colby on March 7 and Pratt on April 23. He produced seven RBIs in a single game against Coffeyville on February 28. Huenfeld had two multi-home run games and three games with 10 total bases.

ANTHONY MAZZA – 2nd-Team Catcher
The sophomore from Prairie Village, Kansas, hit .433 with 84 hits, 19 doubles, 15 home runs and 65 RBIs.

Mazza tied a school record for the longest hitting streak of 25 games and had another 14-game hitting streak, making him the only Blue Dragon in history with three hitting streaks of 10 or more games in a career.

Mazza leaves Hutchinson as the career doubles leader (46) and triples leader (12). His .429 career batting average tied for second, his 171 career hits are third most and his 122 RBIs are seventh in Blue Dragon baseball history.

ELI DUNCAN – 2nd-Team Infield
A sophomore from Palo Alto, California, Duncan hit .429 (81 for 189) with 23 doubles, 17 home runs and 75 RBIs, starting games at three different defensive positions (shortstop, second base and catcher). This season.

Duncan has 27 career home runs, which is tied for third on the Blue Dragon career charts with Tim Olson.

BRAYDEN HENRY – 2nd-Team Relief Pitcher
A freshman from Buhler was a mainstay out of the Blue Dragon bullpen, not allowing a run in seven relief appearances in conference games.

Overall, Henry posted a 5-2 record with a team-low 2.20 ERA. He struck out 51 in 41 innings pitched and allowed opponents a .192 batting average.

For the Jayhawk West season, Henry was 2-0 with three saves and a 1.05 ERA. The runs he allowed in league games were starts against Seward County and Pratt, where he struck out 15 in 12 innings pitched in those two games. Henry had 28 strikeouts in 25 2-3 innings in Jayhawk West games this season. He had saves against Dodge City, Barton and Garden City.
