Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Heading into its first 5K race of the season on Saturday, the Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country team has joined the Top 10 of the USTFCCCA/NJCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country national rankings.
Released on Wednesday, the Blue Dragons jumped five spots from their preseason ranking to No. 10. The Dragons are the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team in the latest rankings.
Hutchinson competes for the second time this season on Saturday at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Missouri.
The Blue Dragons have run only once this season, finishing second at their own Terry Masterson Twilight Classic. The Dragons were second only to NCAA Division I Wichita State.
Freshman Mildred Rono was the Masterson individual champion, winning the three-mile race by shattering the course record by 39 seconds.
This is the fourth-straight season the Blue Dragon women have been a Top 10-ranked team.
