JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – The Great Bend Bat Cats were in Junction City Thursday, using 16 hits and a strong start to defeat the Brigade 8-5.

Great Bend had a 4-0 lead after two innings, but the Brigade piled on a four-run 4th inning to tie it up. The Cats put up a run in the 6th, but JC tied it up again in the 7th. But a clutch-hitting top of the 9th gave Great Bend the lead for good. Deacon Pomeroy drove home the go-ahead run with an RBI single then TJ Shaw hit a two-run single to give the Cats much needed insurance.

Owen Kaiser earned the win on the mound, throwing 2.1 innings allowing just two hits. Cooper Annin got a no-decision in the start, throwing three innings allowing three hits, three runs, and five walks.

Three Bat Cats had at least three hits on the contest: Peanut Brazzle & Kyle Walker went 3-5 and TJ Shaw went 4-4 with 3 RBI. Shaw, Brazzle, and Carson Umphres contributed with home runs in the game.
