HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson Monarchs baseball team out of the Jayhawk Collegiate League will host two special events at Hobart-Detter Field Saturday, June 14, holding Ad Astra Radio Night and Cancer Awareness Night.
The Monarchs will host the Great Bend Bat Cats that evening at 7:00 p.m. The staff at Ad Astra Radio will be honored during the pregame festivities and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the contest. They will also have a booth at the entrance of Hobart-Detter Field, where you can learn more about Ad Astra Radio and win prizes.
The company was founded in 1986 by Cliff Shank in Hutchinson, growing the brand to four radio stations that broadcast out of the Salt City. Now headed by Cliff’s son Chris, Ad Astra Radio has expanded to 11 stations in total, operating out of Hutchinson, McPherson, Lyons, Larned, and Iola, where stations can be heard for hundreds of miles across Central to Southeast Kansas and beyond on adastraradio.com.
The evening will also recognize the Cancer Council of Reno County as part of Cancer Awareness Night. The charity organization provides services to individuals and families affected by cancer and provides education about prevention and treatment. The game will also serve as a fundraiser for the organization as they will also have a chance to win a special Monarchs jersey can other items that support them.
