HILLSBORO, Kan. — Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce this week’s Athlete of the Week, Hillsboro High School junior Lauryn Vogt!
The week – Vogt wrapped up the regular season in style on May 10 at the Andover Invitational. Competing in a co-op team with Marion, Vogt won two events, including the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.65 seconds, and the 100 freestyle (52.98). Vogt also helped the 200 medley team to a fourth-place finish, and the 200 freestyle team to third place.
The season – Vogt has been one of the state’s best swimmers. She is the state leader in all classifications in the 50 freestyle, with a season-best time of (24.33). She also ranks second in the 100 freestyle (52.74), third in the 200 individual medley (2:09.97) and 100 butterfly (57.87), fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:56.43), sixth in the 500 freestyle (5:22.95) and 100 backstroke (1:00.29), and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.0).
