Area Cross Country Runners Compete at Pretty Prairie Invitational

Area high school cross country runners from Pretty Prairie, Haven, Nickerson, Burrton, Hutchinson Central Christian, Fairfield and Reno Valley Middle School competed in the Pretty Prairie Invitational Thursday at the “The Links” golf course in Pretty Prairie.

Other schools with runners competing in the Pretty Prairie Invitational were Macksville, South Barber, Medicine Lodge, Sedgwick and Oxford.

Haven

Haven’s Berenika Coufalova won the 5K girls race with a time of 21:28 and Isaiah Doherty won the 5K boys race with a time of 16:24.

In the 5K boys race, Camden Benke placed sixth, 20:48; Jayden Idacavage, ninth, 21:00; Lane Hopkinson, 10th, 21:02; Aiden Rich Adkins, 21:03.

Haven’s Abby Thalmann placed fifth in the 4K girls race, 23:09.

Wyatt Bontrager placed third in 4K bouts race with a time of 16:48, followed by Jordan Kaufman, fifth, 16:54; Atreyu Mitchell, sixth, 16:56; Kayden Geffert, 10th, 18:19; and Nick Muir, 13th, 19:32.

Haven’s Leah Benke placed second in the 3K girls race with a time of 15:08.

Haven’s Abel Doherty placed third in the K boys race with a time of 17:50.

Micah Bontrager finished second in the 1-mile boys race with a time of 6:36, followed by Jordan Fuentes, seventh, 6:57; Carter Laughlin, 15th, 8:04; Derek Kelley, 18th, 8:11; and Colt Smith, 26th, 11:28.

Haven’s Charlotte Hellman placed 10th in the 1-mile girls race with a time of 12:05.

Pretty Prairie

Pretty Prairie took the top four spots in the 4K girls race: Amity White, first, 17:11; Ava White, second, 19:46; Brennan Schrag, third, 20:42; and Ava Goering, fourth, 20:53. Shantell Willis was seventh, 24:52.

Eli Young and Licas Miller placed second and fourth in the 4K boys race with times of 16:39 and 16:52. Zac England and Dayton Mohs placed eighth and ninth in 17:08 and 17:14.

Pretty Prairie’s Lily Casey placed third in the 3K girls race with a time of 17:11.

Gage Schroeder placed fourth in the 3K boys race with time of 12:56. Teammate Michael Ramirez was ninth with a time of 14:58.

Adilynn Chester, Karlee Sutherland and Ella Schroeder placed fifth, sixth and seventh in the 1-mile girls race with times of 8:43, 8:45 and 9:09.

James Belliveau placed third in the 1-mile boys race with a time of 6:48, followed by Kadon Haflich, fourth, 6:49; Raston Goering, eighth, 7:12; Jace Lobban, 16th, 8:05; and Maddon Mizell, 25th, 9:03.

Nickerson

Nickerson’s Jaycie Ohnmact placed third in the 5K girls race at the Pretty Prairie meet with a time of 25 minutes, 21 seconds.

Amelia Peil finished fourth in 25:33, Bella Brinkley, fifth, 25:58; and Sam Washburn, 12th, 35:21.

In the 5K boys race, Nickerson’s Aiden Brinkley place fifth in 19:37; followed by Andy Huggard, eighth, 20:55; Dale Smith, 16th, 21:39; Renner Hawks, 18th, 21:58; Luke Shelton, 22nd, 23:33; Nelson Hayden, 25th, 24:17; Carson Ward, 27th, 25:31.

In the 4K boys race, Nickerson’s Hunter Fickett placed 15th in 25:23.

The Panther boys and girls cross country teams will compete at the Pratt-Skyline meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Burrton

Burrton’s Isaac Jones placed fourth in the 5K boys race with a time of 19:22. Logan Lane place 14th, 21:22; Ryker Barnes, 15th, 21:25.

Burrton’s Talia Miller placed seventh the 4K girls race, 24:33.

Brandt Hilburn placed 11th in the 3K boys race with a time of 15:40.

Fairfield

Fairfield’s William McIver placed first in the 4K boys competition with a time of 16:30. Thad Brown placed 14th in 20:17.

Addison Fischer placed eighth in the 1-mile girls race with a time of 10:38.

Hutchinson Central Christian

Hutchinson Central Christian’s Tyson Yutzy won the 1-mile boys race with a time of 6:35. Sawyer Eigisti was 14th in 7:57, followed by Bennett Bond, 21st, 8:28; Luke Walker, 23rd, 8:38; and Barrett Bond, 25th, 9:03.

Reno Valley Middle School

Reno County Middle School’s Ria Poston placed fourth in the 3K girls race with a time of 17:54.

Cooper McConnell placed second in the 3K boys race with a time of 11:30, followed by Hayden Littrell, eighth, 14:54; Kash Kelman, 10th, 15:07; Grady Hawks, 12th, 16:02; Keyan Crosano, 14th, 16:47; and AJ Turner, 15th. 22:30.

Reno County’s Illa Huhns placed sixth in the 1-mile girls race with a time of 9:23, followed by Ryleigh Spears, ninth, 11:49; and Julia Stapleton, 11th, 12:54.
