GODDARD, Kan. — The Andale track and field teams are heading into the postseason with momentum.
Andale swept the team championship in the Goddard Invitational on Friday. The Andale boys won with 126 points, 12 points ahead of runner-up Bishop Carroll. The Andale girls won with 188 points, 29 points ahead of Bishop Carroll.
On the girls side, Rylee Meyer won four events, the 100m (11.61), the 200m (25.02), the 300m hurdles (44.79) and the long jump (18-2). The 4x400m relay team won its race in 4:06.66. Sydney Waltner won the triple jump (36-7). Hally Horsch won the pole vault (11-0), while Bailey Bretthauer was third (10-6). Paige Brand won the discus (138-10) and shot put (37-9). Andale went 1-2-3 in the javelin with Kinley Spexarth taking gold (130-0), McNeal second (126-4) and Addy Orth finishing third (119-4). The 4x100m throwers relay team finished second (57.61). Abbey McNeal finished second in the high jump (5-2 Emma Meyer finished third in the 100m hurdles (16.20). The 4x100m relay team finished third (50.52). The 4x800m relay team finished third (10:21.96). Maleah Spexarth took third in the 300m hurdles (48.49) while also taking second in the long jump (17-1.75). Reagan Winter took third in the discus (119-3).
On the boys side, Colt Lane won the pole vault (15-6), while Hudson Tankersley was second (15-0). Brayden Spexarth won the javelin (182-3) with Hunter Grimes taking third (178-8). Spexarth also took third in the discus (143-11). Ethan Eck took second in the triple jump (43-10.5). The 4x100m throwers relay team won its race in 48.14. The 4x800m relay team took second (8:11.61). Lane Martin finished second in the 800m (2:00.58). Roman Lubbers finished third in the 1,600m (4:41.27). Trey Hommertzheim finished second in the 110m hurdles (15.04). Brody Kelp took third in the 300m hurdles (40.49).
Andale travels to Rose Hill for the AVCTL-IV Championships on Friday.
