COLBY, Kan. – Helping their teams remain unbeaten in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play, Dodge City Community College football players Joshua Taylor and James Robinson, along with Hutchinson Community College kicker Parker Grizzell have been named the Week 5 KJCCC Football Players of the Week.
Joshua Taylor (Dodge City) – KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week
Dodge City picked up a home victory over Independence to move to 2-0 in KJCCC play last week, utilizing running back Joshua Taylor, who recorded his second performance of the year with 100-plus rushing yards. The redshirt sophomore tallied 168 rushing yards on 12 attempts with two touchdowns, with the house calls coming on runs of 65 and 78 yards in the second half. Taylor also made two receptions for nine yards.
James Robinson (Dodge City) – KJCCC Football Defensive Player of the Week
Robinson was all over the field on the defensive side of the ball for Dodge City in a 43-42 home win over Independence as the Conquistadors moved to 2-0 in conference play. The redshirt freshman made 10 total tackles, which included 1.5 tackles for loss, along with 0.5 sacks and a blocked extra point in the win.
Parker Grizzell (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Blue Dragon freshman kicker Parker Grizzell broke his second single-game school record of the season by kicking a school-record 54-yard field goal in number two Hutchinson’s 24-0 victory at number 12 Butler on Saturday. Grizzell booted his record 54-yarder in the first quarter, becoming the third Hutchinson kicker to have a field goal of 50 or more yards.
