RENO COUNTY, Kan. — After 35 years of service to Reno County, Shelly Bredemeier is retiring as Director of Reno County Youth Services, 219 West Second Ave., and her last day will be on December 22, 2023.

Bredemeier began working at Youth Services after graduating from college in 1988. Bredemeier said, “It has been an honor to serve Reno County for 35 years. I was blessed with an amazing work family. Each day presented new challenges and many rewards. While working with so many young individuals, every day was an adventure, which provided many opportunities to help both juveniles and their families. My oh my, the many wonderful, unusual, surprising, and funny events that occurred over the many, many years, which now are my treasured memories. I have confidence that Reno County Youth Services will continue to be one of the best Youth Residential Centers and Juvenile Detention facilities in the state. The amazing staff at Youth Services do a tremendous job overseeing the youth’s daily needs. They work with unpredictable youth every day and without fail, they continuously provide a safe, positive teaching environment to improve the lives of juveniles.”
