A 2 ½ mile segment of northbound I-135 was closed Wednesday evening after a truck rollover.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the straight flatbed truck was northbound on 135 just north of Moccasin Road just after 8 PM when He went off the roadway to the right.

The truck then struck a guardrail, a concrete barrier and a bridge pillar before rotating about 90 degrees and rolling three times before coming to rest on the passenger side, spilling it’s load mainly in the median.

The driver of the truck, Alexander Bumgardner, 32, of Lebanon, Missouri, was taken by EMS to McPherson Center for Health with reported serious injuries.

The accident blocked northbound traffic on 135 for several hours with traffic detoured at the US 56 interchange to 17th Avenue.

Related to the accident, the bridge on Moccasin Road, the county extension of Northview Road in McPherson, will be closed until further notice. The City of McPherson said this morning there was significant damage to that bridge, and the Kansas Department of Transportation has no estimate on how long repairs will take.
