McPHERSON, Kan. — The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Department of Kansas is proud to announce Tammy Gibson, a middle school teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School in McPherson, as the Kansas State Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Gibson was selected for her exceptional commitment to education, her dedication to fostering civic responsibility, and her positive impact on students both inside and outside the classroom. Through her passion for teaching, she inspires young learners to think critically, serve others, and develop a strong sense of character and citizenship.
As the Kansas VFW State Middle School Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Gibson represents the VFW Department of Kansas, VFW District 5, and VFW Post #2715. She will advance to the national level, where she will compete against 52 other state-level educators for the prestigious Smart/Maher VFW National Teacher Award.

“Teachers like Tammy Gibson shape the future of our nation,” said the Veterans of Foreign Wars. “Her dedication to her students and her commitment to excellence in education exemplify the values this award was created to honor.”
