KANSAS (March 3, 2026) — The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Department of Kansas joins the nation in recognizing March as Women’s Military History Month, honoring the service, sacrifice, and leadership of women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Women have played a vital role in every American conflict, from the Revolutionary War to present-day operations around the world. Today, women represent one of the fastest-growing populations within the veteran community.

“Women veterans continue to serve our communities long after their miliary service ends,” said leadership from the VFW Department of Kansas. “Women’s Military History Month is an opportunity to recognize their contributions, ensure their voices are heard, and strengthen support systems across Kansas.”

The VFW Department of Kansas encourages communities, civic organizations and local leaders to:

  • Recognize and honor women veterans in their communities
  • Increase awareness of available veteran resources
  • Support initiatives that foster connection among women who have served
  • Promote inclusive veteran engagement at the local level

Throughout the month of March, organizations across Kansas are encouraged to highlight the service of women veterans and strengthen outreach efforts within their communities.

The VFW remains committed to ensuring that all veterans, including the growing population of women who have served, are recognized, respected, and supported.
