HUTCHINSON, Kan. At a special meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Buhler USD 313 Board of Education authorized Superintendent Cindy Couchman to enter into negotiations for the purchase of the former Faith Baptist Church property at 56th and Plum.

Couchman told Ad Astra News following the meeting the property is being pursued for use as a childcare facility as part of the Reno County Collaborative group that was awarded funding from the Kansas Children’s Cabinet to expand childcare availability in Reno County.

The Board will be having a special meeting Wednesday afternoon to interview construction managers at-risk in connection with upcoming projects in the district including renovation of the former Masonic Lodge on East 23rd to house their Ad Astra Academies programs.

Much of that meeting will be in executive session as each firm is being interviewed separately. At least one of the companies being interviewed is a Hutchinson firm.
