HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The USD 308 Board of Education heard presentations on Career & Technical Education and Elementary Art at their meeting on Monday (February 27, 2023).
February is Career & Technical Education Month, and student officers from Hutchinson Career & Technical Education Academy presented to board members on the various career pathways that HCTEA offers. The new Geometry in Construction course presented on the importance of practical application of learning in a classroom setting.
Kylie Sampson, Elementary Art Teacher, also presented to board members on the importance of art education at the elementary level. Sampson shared that March is Youth Art Month, and students have been working on projects throughout the year to practice different skills. She shared a video of students sharing their projects and telling the reasons they enjoy learning about art at school.
