TOPEKA, Kan. — Residents of Plevna (Reno County) and Grinnell (Gove County) who were displaced by the May 18 tornado may now apply for a $1,000 housing assistance grant to help cover emergency housing expenses.

These grants are made possible through the collaborative efforts of the National Association of REALTORS®, the Kansas Association of REALTORS®, and Prairie Land REALTORS®, supporting Kansas communities in the aftermath of disaster.

Individuals may qualify for up to a $1,000 grant if they…

  • Are a homeowner forced to relocate from a primary residence due to damage or loss
  • Are a renter forced to a new residence due to unsafe living conditions
  • Incurred hotel costs after being forced to leave their home after the tornado

“We know that in moments like this, every bit of support matters,” said Jamie Sauder, 2025 President of the Kansas Association of REALTORS®. “These grants are a way the REALTOR® family can step up and help our neighbors rebuild — not just their homes, but their sense of security.”

In Plevna, Prairie Land REALTORS® is helping spread the word locally. In Grinnell, the Kansas Association of REALTORS® is directly assisting with outreach and applications.
